Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge, Multi-level suspension bridge in Jiangsu Province, China.
The Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge is a multi-level suspension structure that carries both trains and vehicles stacked on different levels. Its main span stretches 1,092 meters across the water, and the structure rises 203 meters high above the river surface.
Plans to cross the river at this location existed since the 1960s, but technology did not exist to build it then. Construction finally began in October 2015 with modern engineering methods.
The bridge links different parts of the province and is used daily by commuters, trucks, and trains crossing the river. It shapes how people experience the Yangtze landscape and represents the river's role as a vital transport corridor for the region.
You can walk along the riverbank to view the structure from below and see its scale and design details clearly. Visit on a clear day to get the best views of the bridge against the sky and surrounding landscape.
The main support cables are unusually thick at 1,300 millimeters in diameter and contain 352 individual steel strands each. These cable dimensions set a global record for suspension bridges.
