Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi

Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy initiated construction in 1869 on the site of an earlier adobe church destroyed during the 1680 Pueblo Revolt.

The cathedral houses La Conquistadora, the oldest Madonna statue in the United States, brought by Spanish settlers in the early 17th century.

The cathedral welcomes visitors daily from 8:30 AM to 5:45 PM at 131 Cathedral Place, offering guided tours and regular mass services.

The north chapel retains elements from the original parish church, including thick adobe walls that contrast with the cathedral's limestone construction.
