Description
Penitente Canyon is a climbing destination with steep walls of volcanic rock in southern Colorado. The site offers nearly 300 different climbing routes of varying difficulty.
History
In the 1800s, a religious brotherhood established themselves in the valley for their spiritual practices. This community left lasting marks on the region.

Access is via local roads heading west from Highway 285. Visitors should have a car to reach the area and explore the different climbing sectors.
