Fishers Peak State Park, State park in Trinidad, Colorado, United States
Fishers Peak State Park is a state park in southern Colorado featuring rolling terrain, forests, and open grasslands. The namesake peak rises above 9,600 feet and serves as a landmark visible across much of the region.
The land became Colorado's newest state park in 2020 through a collaborative acquisition by conservation groups and government agencies. This transition marked an important shift from private ownership to public protection and access.
The park serves as an educational center where visitors learn about Colorado's native wildlife through observation of 174 bird species and various mammals.
The park is accessible by car from Interstate 25 Exit 11, with County Road 69-3 leading to the entrance area. Visitors should prepare for varying trail conditions and bring appropriate gear for outdoor activities.
Currently only a portion of the park is open to the public, with most of the land still under management development. The accessible areas feature over 13 miles of established hiking and biking trails.
