Seven Falls, Waterfall series in Colorado Springs, USA.
Seven Falls is a series of waterfalls in South Cheyenne Canyon in Colorado, dropping a total of 181 feet (55 meters) through a narrow granite gorge. The water flows over seven separate tiers, with each cascade emptying into a shallow pool before continuing downward.
James Hull opened the waterfall to visitors in 1883 by building wooden stairs and paths along the canyon. An elevator was later added to ease access to the upper observation platform.
The name refers to the seven individual cascades that you pass one after another while climbing along the rock face. Families and hikers often stop at the viewing platforms to photograph the falling water or feel the spray mist.
The rock face can be climbed via 224 steps or you can take the elevator that leads directly to the observation platform. Those choosing the stairs should wear sturdy footwear, as the stone can become slippery when wet.
From late spring through early fall, the cascades are lit with colored lamps after dark. This makes each tier appear in a different light while the sound of the water echoes through the canyon.
