Boulder Crescent Place Historic District, Historic residential district in Colorado Springs, United States.
Boulder Crescent Place Historic District is a residential area in Colorado Springs containing five houses along West Boulder and Cascade Avenue built between 1894 and 1901. The structures display Dutch Colonial Revival and Queen Anne architectural styles with distinctive features including bay windows, gables, and ornamental details.
The district developed in the 1880s next to the downtown business area, railroad station, and Monument Valley Park. The five houses were constructed shortly after in the 1890s and have remained defining features of this section of the city.
The homes display decorative craftsmanship that visitors can observe today, such as custom tile patterns and hand-finished details throughout the interiors. These works reflect the tastes of the wealthy residents who employed skilled local artisans.
If you want to photograph the houses from the exterior, you can do so from public sidewalks without needing permission. The best time to visit is during daylight hours when the architectural details are clearly visible.
Several of these houses were originally built as private residences but later converted into boarding houses to accommodate visitors who came to Colorado Springs seeking the benefits of the high altitude climate. This shift demonstrates how property owners adapted their homes to take advantage of the tourism demand of that era.
