Chatfield State Park

The 5,381-acre Chatfield State Park features a large reservoir, extensive trail networks, and diverse landscapes including wetlands, woodlands, and prairie environments.

After Edward Livingston Chatfield purchased the land in 1874, the area transformed into a reservoir project in 1967 to address flooding concerns.

The Audubon Society maintains a nature education center at the park, offering programs focused on environmental education and wildlife observation.

The park maintains 197 campsites with electrical hookups, and visitors can access the grounds from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily for a $10 vehicle entry fee.

The park serves as habitat for over 345 bird species and numerous mammals, while providing water management through its 1,423-acre reservoir fed by the South Platte River.
