Coors Field, Baseball stadium in Lower Downtown Denver, United States
Coors Field is a baseball venue in Lower Downtown Denver built with steel and brick, offering seating for 50,480 spectators. The structure sits among several restaurants and entertainment venues in the center of the city.
The venue was built for 300 million dollars and opened on April 26, 1995, as the home of the Colorado Rockies. Since its opening, it has hosted Major League Baseball games and become a fixture in the city.
A row of purple seats marks exactly 5,280 feet (1,609 meters) above sea level, reminding visitors that they sit in a city known for its elevation. Fans often stop to take photos at this spot, which has become a popular meeting point before games begin.
The site sits two blocks from Union Station and offers 63 luxury suites, 4,526 club seats, and numerous concession stands throughout the building. Visitors can easily walk from the train station and find several levels inside with facilities for different needs.
During construction in 1992, workers uncovered dinosaur fossils on the site. These findings led to the choice of a triceratops named Dinger as the team mascot.
