Heritage High School, high school in Colorado, United States
Heritage High School is a public school in Littleton, Colorado that opened in 1972 and sits on about five acres of land. The three-story building houses an Integrated Learning Center with computers, specialized classrooms, a theatre seating 735 people, gymnasiums, a fitness center, and an indoor pool.
The school opened in 1972 as the newest of three high schools serving the Littleton area and students from different neighborhoods. Major renovations took place in 2005 and 2006, including upgrades to offices, the library, and locker rooms at a cost of approximately 14.5 million dollars.
The school uses scarlet and dark blue colors with a bald eagle mascot that students and visitors recognize as part of their identity. These symbols appear throughout the campus during events and games, connecting the school community to shared traditions.
The school sits about 12 miles south of downtown Denver and is easy to reach from different neighborhoods due to its location near a highway that connects to other parts of the city. Visitors should note that the grounds include outdoor facilities with tennis courts, a turf field, and spaces for soccer and baseball.
In 2006, students and staff traveled to Sierra Leone where they raised 60,000 dollars to build a school called Heritage of Kabala and establish a health clinic in the community. This service project reflects the school community's commitment to work beyond campus boundaries.
