Stoiber-Reed-Humphreys Mansion

The Stoiber-Reed-Humphreys Mansion is a large Renaissance Revival house with 30 rooms, including nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The building features a grand entrance hall and was outfitted with modern conveniences such as an elevator, swimming pool, and bowling alley.

The house was built in 1907 based on designs by mining entrepreneur Edward Stoiber. It changed hands several times and became a landmark of the wealthy Humboldt Street neighborhood over the decades.

The mansion shows how Denver's wealthiest mining and oil families lived in the early 1900s. The rooms and furnishings reflect the tastes and status symbols of the city's most successful business leaders of that era.

A distinctive feature is the 11-foot-tall wall built after a property dispute between original owner Lena Stoiber and her neighbor Egbert Reed. This wall still surrounds the property today and marks the boundary of that historical conflict.
