Review Building, Historic office building in downtown Spokane, United States
The Review Building is a six-story office structure at the corner of Riverside and Monroe featuring Romanesque Revival characteristics such as rounded arches and stone masonry. Decorative elements accent the corner where these two streets meet, creating visual interest in the downtown streetscape.
Built in 1891 as Spokane expanded rapidly into a major trading hub, this structure became part of the city's shift from a frontier town to a regional commercial center. It appeared on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
The building demonstrates how construction craftsmanship shaped the appearance of late 19th-century commercial centers in the Northwest. Its stone details and arched windows reflect the building practices that defined how business districts looked during that era.
The structure sits at a prominent downtown corner and is easy to spot from the street. Visitors can examine the exterior facade and architectural details from the sidewalk, though the interior is private office space.
The building preserves numerous original interior architectural elements dating to its construction period, even though it now houses modern commercial offices. These retained details offer insight into how interior spaces were designed during that construction era before widespread renovations removed such features elsewhere.
