Ellison Provincial Park, Provincial park on Okanagan Lake in Vernon, Canada
Ellison Provincial Park stretches across 219 hectares along the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake, featuring forested headlands, sandy bays, and ponderosa pine forests. The grounds include multiple beaches with changing facilities, 71 campsites with flush toilets and showers, plus water stations distributed throughout the area.
The park takes its name from Price Ellison, a British immigrant who arrived in 1876 and helped develop agriculture in the region while serving as Commissioner of Lands in 1909. This naming reflects his importance in the early settlement and economic growth of the Okanagan Valley.
The outdoor amphitheater hosts programs where visitors learn about local nature and regional heritage through presentations and events. The six archaeological sites scattered throughout reveal how people lived in this area long before the park was established.
The park offers campsites with shower and restroom facilities plus several beaches with changing rooms for a comfortable visit. The different areas are spread out, so plan time to explore if you want to visit multiple zones.
Otter Bay within the park served as western Canada's first dedicated freshwater diving and snorkeling location. This particular cove draws underwater enthusiasts who want to explore the lake bottom features and water plant life.
