Herald Provincial Park, Provincial park near Sicamous, Canada.
Herald Provincial Park is a 79-hectare protected area along the north shore of Shuswap Lake, featuring sandy beaches and forest trails that wind through the landscape. The park encompasses several distinct zones with varied habitats and natural features that visitors can explore on foot.
The land was originally farmed by the Herald family until the 1970s, when it was designated as a provincial park in 1975. This shift from private agricultural use to public protected area shaped how the land is managed and used today.
The park functions as a natural education center where visitors learn about local ecosystems through interpretive trails and wildlife observation stations.
Three separate campgrounds throughout the park offer facilities including hot showers, boat launches, fire pits, and both flush and pit toilets. Different sections of the site are accessible by foot or by water, depending on where you plan to spend your time.
Margaret Falls, accessible via a short hiking trail, creates a natural water curtain that drops through a narrow rock canyon within the park. This hidden waterfall is often missed by visitors who focus on the more familiar beach areas.
