Harrower Peak, Mountain summit in Wind River Range, Wyoming, US
Harrower Peak is a summit in the Wind River Range standing at about 13,000 feet. A glacier sits on the northeastern side of the mountain, adding to its character.
The first recorded ascent took place in 1926 when mountaineer Albert R. Ellingwood reached the summit. The peak was later named after the Harrower family, replacing an earlier designation.
The peak received its official name from the Harrower family, connected to an early backcountry ranger and mayor of Pinedale, rather than keeping Ellingwood Peak designation.
Reaching the summit requires a roughly 14-mile trek from Elkhart Park Trailhead. Most routes demand advanced climbing skills and experience with alpine terrain.
The North Arete offers a technical climbing route featuring cracks, slabs, and overhanging sections that challenge experienced mountaineers. This alternative path provides a different perspective on the mountain.
