Old Faithful Inn, Historic lodge in Yellowstone National Park, United States
The Old Faithful Inn is a lodge in Yellowstone National Park, Teton County, Wyoming, with a central room rising seven stories. Thick log columns form the walls, while two large stone fireplaces anchor the interior space.
The Northern Pacific Railroad financed construction in 1903 to house travelers visiting the upper geyser basin. An earlier hotel had been destroyed by fire, making a replacement necessary.
The building takes its name from the nearby geyser and shows how early park architects used timber and stone from the surrounding area. Visitors can sit on wide porches to watch the eruption, while travelers inside admire the handcrafted woodwork and furniture.
The lodge opens from May through October and offers 327 rooms in three wings, from simple quarters to larger suites. Guests should book early, as rooms fill quickly during summer months.
Each morning, guests can watch the geyser erupt from viewing areas while eating breakfast in the large dining room. The building sits close enough that steam sometimes drifts to the windows.
