Old Faithful Lodge, lodge dans le parc national de Yellowstone aux États-Unis
Old Faithful Lodge is a historic stone and wood building in Teton County, Wyoming, positioned directly beside Yellowstone's most famous geyser. It offers simple cabins, a main lodge with geyser views from the lobby, a cafeteria-style restaurant, a bakery counter, and a gift shop.
The lodge was founded in the early 1900s as rail travelers arrived to see the geyser and became a key stop for park tourism. Architect Gilbert Stanley Underwood designed it, and the current structure was completed in 1928, with the Old Faithful Historic District added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
The lodge takes its name from the reliable geyser it overlooks, which has made the place famous among visitors for generations. The rustic design with wood and stone materials was intentionally created to blend into the natural landscape and give guests a sense of being immersed in the wilderness.
The lodge operates mainly from May through October and visitors should arrive early as meals and bookings work on a first-come, first-served basis. Two accessible cabins, free wheelchair borrowing, and an accessible shower house are available for guests with mobility needs.
Larry's Snack Station, the bakery counter in the lodge, is named after Larry Mathews, who once ran simple food and lodging operations near the park's geysers. This tribute honors his contribution to the area's early tourism development.
