Only hard-sided recreational vehicles are permitted due to frequent grizzly bear activity nearby, with no tents allowed anywhere on the grounds. Visitors should verify their rig meets requirements and come prepared for wildlife safety protocols.

The park sits where Yellowstone River exits Yellowstone Lake, giving visitors direct access to North America's largest high-elevation freshwater lake. This location creates unusual opportunities to observe wildlife right from the campground.
