Eagle's Store, commercieel gebouw in West Yellowstone, Verenigde Staten van Amerika
Eagle's Store is a three-story structure built from large red fir logs in West Yellowstone, designed in the rustic architectural style. The building was completed in 1930 following designs by architect Fred Willson and features logs measuring up to 36 feet (11 meters) in length, stone and concrete foundations, and a roof with multicolored asphalt shingles.
Samuel P. Eagle and his partners founded the first store at this location in 1908, a tiny 12 by 12 foot building that quickly grew to serve the expanding town. The original structure was demolished in 1927, and the current building was completed in 1930, following the arrival of the railroad to West Yellowstone in 1907.
The store takes its name from founder Samuel P. Eagle and has served as a gathering place for both residents and park visitors since its opening. This building shows how people in a frontier town relied on a single store to meet their needs and connect with each other.
The store is located at 3 North Canyon Street in the heart of West Yellowstone and is easily accessible on foot. Visitors can view the rustic exterior while passing by and step inside to browse the gift shop or enjoy the soda fountain that has operated since 1910.
The building has housed an original soda fountain since 1910 that still operates and draws visitors seeking a cold beverage after time outdoors. This fountain remains one of the oldest functioning examples of its kind in the region.
