Motherwell Homestead

Motherwell Homestead is a historic farmstead near Abernethy with a stone house, farm buildings, and shelter belts set across open prairie land. The site includes different areas for various purposes and shows how a working farm was organized during that era.

William Richard Motherwell founded this homestead in 1882 and later shaped farming practices as Saskatchewan's first Minister of Agriculture. His work influenced how agriculture developed across the region for decades to come.
