CFS Masset

CFS Masset is a Canadian Forces installation on Graham Island in the Haida Gwaii archipelago that supports defense and monitoring operations for the Pacific coastal region. The base features radar facilities and communications equipment distributed across the island terrain.

The station was established as an air force base and served as a critical radar post during the Cold War for monitoring northern airspace. During the 1990s military restructuring, it was transformed into a communications detachment operating under CFS Leitrim.

The military personnel at CFS Masset maintain connections with local communities through regular meetings and participation in regional activities.

Access to the installation is restricted and requires proper identification and security clearance for entry. Visitors should arrange authorization in advance and follow all security procedures upon arrival.

The base sits near Haida traditional territory and carries historical connections to the region's indigenous heritage. Its remote location on Graham Island makes it one of the northernmost active defense installations in Canada's Pacific operations.
