Sundance Provincial Park

Sundance Provincial Park is a protected area in western Alberta featuring sandstone cliffs, steep valley walls, and five connected lakes known as the Emerson Lakes. The territory spans approximately 37 square kilometers of natural landscape.

The park was established in 1999 by the Alberta Tourism Department to protect the distinctive sandstone formations and ecological balance of the region. Its creation represented a broader effort to preserve important natural landscapes across the province.

The Wild Sculpture Trail guides visitors through natural sandstone formations shaped by geological forces over millions of years. Walking the path connects nature and artistic perception in a single experience.

The park offers two separate camping areas near the Emerson Lakes with designated spots and fishing opportunities. Access is available during both warm months and winter, making it suitable for visiting in different seasons.

Only electric-powered boats and paddle craft are permitted on the park's waters. This restriction protects the natural water ecosystem from the impact of combustion engines.
