Angel Glacier, Glacial formation on Mount Edith Cavell in Alberta, Canada
Angel Glacier is an ice formation on the north face of Mount Edith Cavell that spreads across the mountainside in a distinctive winged shape. The ice mass descends from the upper slopes and can be viewed from multiple locations within the park.
The glacier received its name in the 19th century when it covered a much larger area of the mountainside. Over time, the ice mass has retreated significantly from its earlier extent.
The formation stands as an environmental indicator within Jasper National Park, drawing researchers who study climate patterns and glacial movements in North America.
The glacier can be observed from the Cavell Meadows trail, a well-maintained hiking route with several viewpoints throughout Jasper National Park. The path offers clear sightlines from different vantage points.
The glacier spans approximately one square kilometer and stretches 1.3 kilometers in length at an elevation of 2,268 meters above sea level.
