Valleyview is a town situated where Highway 43 and Highway 49 cross in northwestern Alberta. It sits between the Little Smoky River and Sturgeon Lake at an elevation of 700 meters (2,300 feet).
The settlement was founded in 1916 near Red Willow Creek and renamed to Valleyview in 1929. It gained town status in 1957.
