The Pearl, Residential skyscraper in Oliver neighborhood, Edmonton, Canada
The Pearl is a 36-story residential tower made of glass and steel, located on Jasper Avenue in the Oliver neighborhood of Edmonton, Alberta. It sits among other tall buildings in this central part of the city, forming part of the downtown skyline.
Construction of The Pearl started in 2010 and was completed in 2015, during a period when residential development in Edmonton was picking up pace. Several other towers rose in the same area around the same time, reshaping the neighborhood.
The Oliver neighborhood around the tower has become a place where people walk to nearby cafés, parks, and shops rather than driving. The street-level activity gives the area a rhythm that feels more urban than suburban.
The tower stands on Jasper Avenue, one of Edmonton's main streets, which makes it easy to reach on foot or by transit. The surrounding Oliver area has shops, restaurants, and services within a short walk.
The Pearl is one of the few residential buildings in Edmonton that offers views of the North Saskatchewan River valley from its upper floors, something not obvious when looking at it from street level. The river valley drops away dramatically on one side of the city, and the upper floors of this tower look directly over it.
