Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Lutheran seminary in Greater Highlands, Canada
Concordia Lutheran Seminary is an educational facility on the north bank of the North Saskatchewan River in Edmonton, Alberta. The institution houses academic programs and provides faculty offices and teaching spaces for students pursuing ministerial training.
The institution was established on September 10, 1984, initially operating from a rented house that previously served as Concordia College faculty housing. The building was dedicated in 1991 and marked the expansion from its original six students to a full theological school.
The seminary serves as a center for Lutheran theological education and publishes the Lutheran Theological Review in partnership with its counterpart in Ontario. Visitors can observe the academic work of Lutheran theologians and their contribution to church education.
The facility is located along a quiet river section and is most accessible during business hours. Visitors should keep in mind this is an active educational facility where walking around the grounds is usually possible at most times.
The facility grew rapidly from just six initial students to a full theological institution with multiple faculty members in less than a decade. This swift expansion reflects growing demand for Lutheran ministerial training in the region.
