Marquis Downs

Marquis Downs was a horse racing facility in Saskatoon's Exhibition District featuring a five-furlong oval track. The grounds included a seven-furlong chute extension and grandstands that held around 3,500 spectators.

The facility opened in 1969 under Saskatoon Prairieland Park Corporation's management and operated for over 50 years. It closed in 2021 after serving as a regional horse racing center throughout its history.

The venue held major horse racing events like the Prairie Lily Stakes and Saskatchewan Derby that drew racing enthusiasts throughout the decades. These gatherings became part of the region's annual sports calendar and local traditions.

Racing events typically took place on Fridays and Saturdays from late May through early September. Access to the venue was available through St. Henry Avenue, making it straightforward to locate and reach.

The facility briefly returned to hosting harness racing between 2005 and 2010 after initially phasing it out. This temporary shift demonstrated the venue's ability to adapt its racing formats over time.
