Kuroki, Organized hamlet in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Kuroki is a small hamlet in Saskatchewan positioned where Highways 5, 38, and 310 intersect. The community covers a modest land area within the Rural Municipality of Sasman No. 336.
The settlement was named after General Tamemoto Kuroki, commander of the Japanese First Army during the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. This naming reflected a trend that swept through the region at that time.
A Japanese garden with rock formations and a pond sits in the center, while a Ukrainian Orthodox church marks the western edge of the hamlet.
The area is most easily reached via the three highways running through the location. Access is straightforward since the site benefits from its position on these main routes.
Three consecutive railway towns in Saskatchewan - Togo, Kuroki, and Mikado - commemorate Japanese military victories from the war of 1904-1905. This series of place names is a rare example of how international events influenced settlement names across Western Canada.
