Wedgewood Village Amusement Park

Wedgewood Village Amusement Park, Former amusement park in Oklahoma City, United States

Wedgewood Village Amusement Park was a 30-acre entertainment destination along NW Expressway featuring rides, games, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. The grounds contained multiple attractions designed to keep visitors occupied throughout the day.

The park opened in 1955 when a golf driving range owner decided to transform his property into an amusement destination. The name came from his two favorite golf clubs, the wedge and the wood.

The park drew families from across Oklahoma City and shaped how people spent their free time during the 1950s and 1960s. The wooden Tornado coaster became a gathering place where generations shared their first big rides together.

The site is no longer accessible as an amusement park since it was converted into residential apartments. You can view the former location from the surrounding streets and learn about its past from local sources.

The wooden Tornado coaster started at 58 feet tall but was later increased to 75 feet to make it more thrilling. Parts of the ride were eventually relocated and reconstructed in Ohio.
