Wedgewood Village Amusement Park, Former amusement park in Oklahoma City, United States
The Wedgewood Village Amusement Park covered 30 acres along NW Expressway, featuring rides, games, and a regulation-size Olympic swimming pool.
Maurice Woods transformed his golf driving range into an entertainment destination in 1955, naming it after his preferred golf clubs: wedge and wood.
The park became central to Oklahoma City social life, drawing families to its wooden Tornado roller coaster designed by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company.
The former grounds of the amusement park, which operated from 1955 to 1969, now contain residential buildings known as Wedgewood Apartments.
The Tornado roller coaster underwent modifications that increased its height from 58 to 75 feet before being dismantled and partially relocated to Ohio.
