Paseo Arts District, Art galleries district in Oklahoma City, United States
Paseo Arts District stretches along Paseo Drive showcasing Spanish colonial-style buildings with stucco walls and clay tile roofs. The area houses more than twenty galleries displaying artwork by a diverse group of artists.
The district was founded in 1929 by G.A. Nichols as Oklahoma City's first commercial area north of downtown and was originally called Spanish Village. The architecture and concept emerged from a vision to create an independent artistic and commercial space.
The galleries showcase works by local and regional artists who have shaped the area as a gathering place for creative people. Visitors find a sense of community reflected in how artists and art lovers use the space daily.
The area is flat and easily walkable with ample parking available for visitors. The first Friday of each month brings the most activity, when galleries open in the evening and live music plays throughout.
The Old Trinity Church, one of Oklahoma's oldest churches, was originally built in 1842 in Canada and later transported here piece by piece. This remarkable relocation makes it an unexpected historical landmark within the arts district.
