Harn Homestead

Harn Homestead is a museum showing how settlers lived in Oklahoma in the early 1900s, with several original buildings spread across the property. You can see a stone barn, storage buildings, the main family home, and a small schoolhouse.

William Fremont Harn acquired this land in 1891 and built several structures over the following years that reflected settler life. The buildings document the growth of settlement in Oklahoma Territory during this formative period.

The 1897 one-room schoolhouse on the grounds shows how children learned during territorial times, with original furnishings and teaching materials still visible. Walking through the space gives a real sense of what education felt like back then.

The site is located in north Oklahoma City and is easy to find on Lincoln Boulevard. It is best to arrive early in the day so you can explore the buildings comfortably at your own pace.

Two of the buildings here were placed on the National Register of Historic Places for their careful preservation and architectural importance. This recognition makes it a standout example of craftsmanship from that era.
