Sugg Clinic, hospital in Oklahoma, United States
Sugg Clinic is a former hospital in Ada, Oklahoma, designed in the Streamline Moderne style with smooth lines, rounded corners, and glass block windows that reflect mid-20th century architecture. The building was constructed in 1947 by architect Albert S. Ross and functioned as a major medical facility serving the community until its closure in 1980.
The clinic opened in 1947 as one of the most advanced medical facilities in the southwestern United States, reflecting the post-war era's emphasis on modern healthcare. It operated until 1980, then sat unused for years before being restored and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.
The building sits on East 13th Street and is easily visible and accessible from the street year-round. Visitors can view its exterior architectural features and rounded forms, though the interior is now occupied as office space.
The building was deliberately designed with a light green color and streamlined form to resemble modern transportation like airplanes and trains. This visual approach made it stand out sharply among Ada's more traditional red brick and limestone structures.
