Gallagher-Iba Arena, basketball and wrestling venue
Gallagher-Iba Arena is a large indoor sports facility at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater that hosts basketball and wrestling events and can seat over 13,000 fans. The building features a polished wood floor, high ceilings, and seating arranged around the court so spectators can watch the action up close from nearly any spot.
The arena opened in 1938 as a building for student activities and was soon named Gallagher Hall to honor wrestling coach Ed Gallagher. In 1987, it became Gallagher-Iba Arena to also recognize basketball coach Henry Iba, whose teams played here for decades and built a winning tradition.
The arena is named after two legendary coaches: Ed Gallagher, who won many wrestling titles, and Henry Iba, a basketball Hall of Famer. The names reflect how deeply the university values its sports traditions and the people who shaped them.
The arena has two entrances with elevators and escalators for easy access on game days. Parking is available on campus and in nearby lots, though getting in and finding a spot can be crowded when large crowds are expected.
The seating is positioned so close to the court that the arena is known as one of the loudest in college sports, especially when the home team is winning. This tight arrangement amplifies fan noise and energy, making every visit feel like stepping into a roaring crowd.
