Broken Arrow is a residential city in Tulsa and Wagoner counties in the state of Oklahoma. The urban area extends across two administrative regions and includes parks, shopping centers and residential zones connected by wide streets.
The Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad founded this settlement in 1902, laying the groundwork for later urban growth. In the following decades the population grew steadily, and proximity to Tulsa shaped the economic development of the town.
The name comes from a Creek community in Alabama called Rekackv, recalling the indigenous roots of the area. Today people from different backgrounds live in neighborhoods that spread across gentle hills and are marked by churches, schools and community centers.
