Golden Driller, Oil worker monument at Tulsa Expo Center, United States
Golden Driller is a metal oil worker at the Tulsa Expo Center in Oklahoma, standing 76 feet tall and weighing more than 43,500 pounds. The sculpture wears a tin helmet and rests its left arm on a derrick from Seminole.
Mid-Continental Supply Company built the first version for the International Petroleum Exposition in 1953. After modifications, the sculpture was permanently installed at its current location in 1966.
The name honors the oil workers from Oklahoma who shaped the region. A wide belt at the waist shows the word TULSA clearly.
The sculpture stands at the fairgrounds on 4145 East 21st Street and is visible from the road. Access is free during daytime hours.
The shoes are size 393DDD and the belt measures about 48 feet around. The construction withstands strong tornadoes that regularly pass through Oklahoma.
