Philtower Building, Art Deco skyscraper in downtown Tulsa, US.
The Philtower Building is a 24-story skyscraper featuring English Gothic Revival design with colored shingle-tiled roof that rises 323 feet (98 meters) above downtown Tulsa. Office spaces occupy the lower levels while residential lofts fill floors 12 through 20.
Architect Edward Buehler Delk designed the building in 1928 for oil businessman Waite Phillips during downtown Tulsa's economic expansion. In 1941 Phillips donated it to the Boy Scouts of America, which relied on rental income from it until 1977.
The lobby displays Italian craftsmanship with stone rosettes, fan-vaulted ceilings, custom chandeliers, and travertine marble surfaces. This ornate interior reveals the wealth and refined taste of the era when it was built.
The building sits at 427 South Boston Avenue in the heart of downtown and is easy to locate and visit. Mixed-use occupancy with offices and residences means the public lobby area remains accessible during regular business hours.
The building's corridors and corner spaces contain crafted details that are easy to overlook at first glance but reveal the construction quality of that era upon closer inspection. Most visitors miss these subtle architectural touches scattered throughout the interior.
