Atlas Life Building, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
The Atlas Life Building is a twelve-story office tower from 1922 in downtown Tulsa that was converted into a hotel in 2010. The structure features red brick walls with white marble accents, a decorative cornice at the top, and an Atlas sculpture, plus a bright neon sign above the main entrance.
The building was completed in 1922 by the Atlas Life Insurance Company, founded in Tulsa in 1918 and growing rapidly. After passing through several owners over the decades, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 and successfully converted into a hotel in 2010.
The building takes its name from the Atlas Life Insurance Company that founded it to display the city's growing prosperity. The Atlas statue on the facade represents how the insurance industry expressed its strength and success through this landmark structure.
The building is centrally located in downtown Tulsa on South Boston Avenue, near other notable high-rises like Philtower and Mid-Continent Tower. The area is walkable and the bright neon sign above the facade makes the entrance easy to find.
The bright neon sign above the main entrance was installed in 1946 and has survived all ownership changes and building conversions. This glowing marker has become the building's calling card and draws visitors who use it as a photo spot.
