Philcade Building, Art Deco commercial building in downtown Tulsa, United States
The Philcade Building is a 13-story commercial structure in downtown Tulsa with buff brick exterior and terra cotta facing on its lower three stories. Retail establishments occupy the base while office suites fill the upper floors, all connected through a central entrance.
Waite Phillips commissioned architect Leon B. Senter to design this building in 1929, with completion arriving in 1931 during a major economic transition. The timing marked an important moment in Tulsa's development.
The building displays Egyptian-style columns and French Moderne design elements throughout its interior spaces. The hand-painted arched ceiling with geometric patterns in multiple colors creates a distinctive visual experience that visitors notice when entering.
The building features an underground tunnel connecting it to the Philtower, offering convenient passage between the two structures. Visitors should plan ahead since access to different areas may vary depending on operating hours.
The top floor holds a spacious penthouse with numerous rooms, added in 1937 as a private residence. The Phillips family moved into this luxury space after leaving their previous mansion.
