Tulsa, County seat in northeastern Oklahoma, United States.
Tulsa is a county seat in northeastern Oklahoma that spreads along the Arkansas River across four counties. The area features rolling hills at around 194 meters elevation, with numerous parks and green spaces scattered throughout the cityscape.
The settlement began in 1836 when members of the Creek Nation founded a community here. After oil discoveries in 1901, the town transformed into a major center of the petroleum industry.
The Philbrook Museum and the Gilcrease Museum display large collections of American art and Native American artifacts that visitors can explore in person. Downtown neighborhoods host regular street festivals and live concerts where the local community gathers to celebrate together.
The town receives its drinking water from the Spavinaw system, supplied through a pipeline stretching roughly 70 miles from the Ozark foothills. Most neighborhoods are easily accessible by car, while some central areas can also be explored on foot.
The town holds many Art Deco buildings from the 1920s that were constructed during the oil boom, including the Pythian Building and the restored Union Depot. These structures still shape the architectural character of downtown today.
