Tenkiller State Park, State park at Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma

Tenkiller State Park is a recreational area in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, situated along the shoreline of Lake Tenkiller with wooded grounds and open spaces. The park provides access to water activities, camping, and day-use facilities.

The park was officially added to the Oklahoma State Park System in 1953 through an agreement between the Oklahoma Tourism Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This partnership established public access to the shoreline for recreation.

The name Tenkiller comes from a Cherokee family who lived on the land where the lake now exists. This heritage remains part of the place's identity today.

The park is easily navigable with marked trails leading to facilities and the waterfront. Visitors should bring appropriate clothing for the season and take standard safety precautions when using water areas.

The underwater portion of the lake contains intentionally submerged objects including an airplane fuselage, a helicopter, and a school bus for scuba exploration. These artificial structures have made the location a destination for underwater divers.
