Cherokee Heritage Center

The Cherokee Heritage Center is a museum in Park Hill that presents Cherokee history through exhibits and artifacts. The grounds include buildings, a rebuilt village, and areas for viewing traditional crafts and skills.

The center opened in 1962 and was built on land where a Cherokee school once stood. It preserves important places and objects from Cherokee history.

The Diligwa village shows how Cherokee people lived in daily life, with rebuilt houses and traditional crafts on display. Visitors can watch interpreters demonstrate skills and work that shaped Cherokee ways of living.

Visitors walk through different areas of the grounds that include buildings and outdoor spaces. It helps to wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore the separate sections at a relaxed pace.

The Adams Corner Rural Village on the grounds recreates a 19th-century Cherokee settlement with period buildings. This separate village helps visitors picture how Cherokee families lived and worked during that era.
