Natural Falls State Park, State park in Delaware County, Oklahoma.
Natural Falls State Park is a protected area in northeastern Oklahoma's Delaware County, where a 77-foot waterfall cascades through rock formations into a narrow V-shaped valley within the Ozark Highlands. The park offers campgrounds for recreational vehicles and tents, shower facilities, picnic areas, and several miles of trails through wooded terrain.
The land was known as Dripping Springs and remained in private hands until 1990. The state of Oklahoma then purchased the property and opened it as a public park.
The site appeared in the 1974 film Where the Red Fern Grows, introducing the Ozark landscape to audiences worldwide. Visitors today still recognize the rock walls and valley that featured in this adaptation.
Trails pass through damp areas with moss and slippery stones, so sturdy footwear helps. The main path to the waterfall is relatively short, but terrain can become muddy after rain.
Five round yurts stand on wooden platforms and offer air conditioning, refrigerators, and skylights for overnight stays. These shelters combine traditional form with modern comforts for guests who prefer not to camp in tents.
