Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church

Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church is a church building with Dutch-influenced architecture located north of Goessel in Kansas farmland. The white exterior and clean lines make it easy to spot among the surrounding fields.

The congregation originated from Mennonites living in Prussia who moved to Russia in 1820 before emigrating to Kansas in 1874. The journey to America was made on two ships, the Cimbria and the Teutonia.

The church reflects the heritage of Mennonites who came from Prussia through Russia and maintain their traditions to this day. Visitors can see how the community continues their language, craftsmanship, and way of life in this rural setting.

The church is easy to visit since it sits on open land and is visible from the road. Parking is available, and visitors can stop by anytime to view the exterior or attend services.

The congregation was a complete village migration from Russia, with members emigrating together and purchasing adjacent plots of land. This made them one of the few communities that kept their identity intact across generations as a unified group.
