Araquari

Araquari is a municipality in Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, situated roughly 20 kilometers southeast of Joinville. The region sits at low elevation near sea level with relatively flat terrain.

Portuguese settlers arrived in the region in 1658 where Carijós peoples lived, and the official founding occurred in 1848 through Manuel Vieira. This early colonization shaped the development of the community.

The town shows influences from Azorean settlers, Indigenous communities, and African heritage woven into local celebrations and daily customs. These different backgrounds shape how people live and gather together today.

The location has a subtropical climate with moderate conditions, where February brings the warmest weather and July the coolest. Visitors should pack accordingly depending on the season they plan to visit.

A major automotive manufacturer operates a production facility here that builds several vehicle models. This industrial presence is a key part of the local economy and shapes the character of the modern town.
