Dreamer's Bay

Dreamer's Bay is an archaeological site on the Akrotiri Peninsula containing building remains scattered along more than 500 meters of shoreline. The site includes warehouses, port structures, and a submerged artificial breakwater that once served maritime activities.

The site developed from the 1st to 6th century as a port linking trade networks between Greece, Egypt, and Syria. Its structures reveal the area's role in connecting distant Mediterranean regions through commerce.

The site represents an important node in ancient Mediterranean maritime networks, with archaeological evidence indicating connections to both Roman and Byzantine civilizations.

The site is located within a military base and requires advance permission to visit. Contacting local archaeological authorities beforehand is necessary to arrange access and learn about current research activities.

Stone columns found beneath the seabed hint at ancient shipping routes used to move goods from Egypt to Antioch. These underwater remains help researchers trace the exact trade connections this port once served.
