Tórsvøllur, national football stadium in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands
Tórsvøllur is the national football stadium on the Gundadalur sports site in Tórshavn, with a capacity of 6,500. It has an artificial turf pitch, a west stand opened in 2021 with 1,730 seats, and floodlights first used in 2011. The capital's clubs HB and B36 play at the neighbouring Gundadalur stadium.
Tórsvøllur opened on 9 July 1999 with a friendly between the Faroe Islands and Aalborg Boldspilklub, taking over national-team home matches from Svangaskarð in Toftir. It hosted the Faroese cup finals until 2005. A stand with offices and seating was built in 2009, floodlights arrived in 2011, another stand replaced a tubular structure in 2014, and a full renovation finished in 2021.
The stadium is easily accessible from central Tórshavn and has clear signage for visitors. Be prepared for changing weather conditions and check the match schedule beforehand to plan your visit.
Tórsvøllur is not a club ground: HB Tórshavn and B36 Tórshavn play next door at Gundadalur, while the national stadium is also hired by other clubs for European ties. Its floodlights, installed in 2011 at a cost of about 16.5 million DKK, give 1400 lux and were first switched on for the Faroe Islands against Italy on 2 September 2011.
