Malabo Mosque, Central mosque in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea

The Malabo Mosque is a house of worship in the Sacriba Fang neighborhood featuring two white minarets and a central dome. The interior can hold up to 2000 worshippers at the same time, with separate areas for men and women.

The current building replaced an earlier mosque from the 1900s that no longer served the growing community. Construction was funded by then First Lady Constancia Mangue with a sum of 2 billion CFA francs.

The building takes its name from the Sacriba Fang district and serves as a gathering point for the city's Muslim community. Visitors can witness communal prayer and observe how worshippers use the courtyard and prayer halls throughout the day.

Visitors should wear covered shoulders and knees, and women need a headscarf when entering the prayer hall. It is best to visit outside prayer times to avoid disturbing worshippers.

President Obiang spoke of religious tolerance at the opening in 2015 and sent a message against extremism. This declaration made the ceremony a moment of political symbolism for the country.
