Golden Beach, Artificial beach in Tuen Mun District, Hong Kong
Golden Beach is an artificial beach in Tuen Mun District with white sand and a palm-lined waterfront promenade. The site features designated swimming areas, sports courts, and visitor facilities positioned directly along the coast.
The beach was created in 1995 as Hong Kong's first artificial public beach. This project marked a turning point in developing leisure spaces within the densely populated city.
The national volleyball team of Hong Kong regularly trains at the beach's designated court, making it a center for beach sports development.
Lifeguards are on duty year-round to ensure visitor safety. Multiple bus routes connect directly to the site, making travel from the city straightforward and convenient.
The beach experiences regular sand erosion from natural coastal currents and requires periodic replenishment to maintain its condition. These ongoing maintenance efforts reveal how artificial beaches need constant monitoring and care to remain usable.
