Warner Park Sporting Complex, Multi-sport stadium in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis
Warner Park Sporting Complex is a multi-sport facility in Basseterre featuring a cricket ground, football stadium, tennis courts, netball courts, and a media center. The grounds serve multiple sports and accommodate large crowds during major competitions.
Named after Sir Thomas Warner, who founded the first English colony on Saint Kitts, the complex opened in 2006. It hosted the Cricket World Cup in 2007 and became a major sports venue for the island.
The northern area houses Carnival City, where locals gather throughout the year to celebrate and dance together during seasonal festivities. This section reflects how central these celebrations are to daily life on the island.
The grounds are walkable and easy to navigate, with clear paths connecting the different sports areas. Plan time to explore, and bring water, especially during warmer parts of the day.
The eastern section intentionally lacks stands to allow natural Caribbean trade winds to flow freely through the complex. This design keeps spectators naturally cool during events and shows thoughtful adaptation to the tropical climate.
