Princess Grace Rose Garden, Rose garden in Fontvieille, Monaco
The Princess Grace Rose Garden is a landscaped park in Fontvieille containing more than 6,000 rose trees representing approximately 315 different varieties. The grounds span several thousand square meters with pathways that allow visitors to explore different planted sections and displays.
Prince Rainier III established this garden in June 1984 as a memorial to Princess Grace following her passing. The site underwent expansions in 2000 and 2014 to grow the botanical collection and improve visitor experience.
The garden was created as a tribute to Princess Grace, and a bronze statue by sculptor Kees Verkade stands among the roses as a focal point. The central plaza with its illuminated fountain serves as a gathering place where visitors pause and reflect on the memorial.
The garden is open daily and free to enter, making it easily accessible for a leisurely visit at any time. Guided tours are available regularly and provide detailed information about the roses and garden design.
The grounds are divided into seven themed areas that showcase different rose varieties in separate sections. Interactive terminals and QR codes placed near plants help visitors learn details about each species they encounter.
