The museum displays a comprehensive collection of Monegasque stamps and coins in a modern building with dedicated exhibition spaces and research facilities.
Prince Rainier III established the museum through Sovereign Ordinance in December 1995, opening its doors to the public in January 1996 next to Espace Léo Ferré.
The institution houses exhibits from Monaco's first stamps issued in 1885 and coins from 1640, documenting the principality's postal and monetary evolution.
The museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:30 to 17:00, with extended hours until 18:00 during July and August, offering admission at 3 euros for adults.
The museum serves as headquarters for the Club de Monte-Carlo, an elite philatelic organization that organizes MONACOPHIL exhibitions every two years.
